The Fighting Bulls and the Frog

The Pride of the Herd

A green valley was home to the Fighting Bulls. They felt very proud of their strong muscles and sharp horns, standing tall.

The bulls loved to test their power. "I am the strongest bull!" bellowed Brutus, pushing his head hard against another. They often challenged each other.

The Challenge

One bright afternoon, Bravehorn stamped his hoof. All the Fighting Bulls stopped their games and turned to him. Bravehorn was the oldest bull, and his voice boomed across the valley.

"My friends, my bones are not as young as they once were," he said. "I need one strong bull to lead you all now."

The Trials

The bulls stomped their big hooves, making the ground shake. "Trials!" bellowed Brutus. "We will show Bravehorn who is strongest!"

They started practising their powerful charges and clever head-butts. Each bull worked hard to get quicker. Bravehorn watched, knowing every single one hoped to lead the herd.

The Uninvited Guest

The sky turned a lovely orange as the sun went down. A tiny frog, no bigger than a teacup, hopped into the bulls' practice area. He looked very odd next to the big, strong Fighting Bulls. All the bulls stopped their games at once and turned their heads. Loud "Hrrrumph!" snorts came from their big noses.

Bravehorn lowered his huge head, making the ground rumble. His deep voice boomed, "Who is this tiny intruder?" He looked ready to push the little frog away with his powerful hoof.

The Wise Frog

The little frog did not look scared, even with Bravehorn's big hoof near him. He hopped a bit closer. Then he stood very tall for a frog, right in front of the largest bull. Bravehorn paused with his huge hoof in the air. He watched the tiny frog carefully.

Then the frog made a surprising little 'Ahem!' sound. It was clear and loud for such a tiny creature, and all the bulls heard it. "You bulls are very strong," he said, looking straight at Bravehorn. "But being a leader needs more than just muscles and big bodies. I have watched many animals win by using clever ideas." The bulls listened closely to his clear, steady voice.

The Wise Decision

Bravehorn watched the small frog, then slowly dipped his huge head. He gave a low rumble. "All right, little one," Bravehorn said, "show us how to find the best leader among us." The other bulls blinked their big eyes. One bull nudged his friend with a soft snort. "Did he really just say that?" he muttered.

The trials began again with new puzzles. Now the bulls had to think hard and use clever ideas, not just their strong bodies. They needed to choose quickly. Sometimes, they even worked as a team to solve problems. The bulls started to snort with keen interest. They saw that the frog's advice was truly helpful.

The Unexpected Winner

Many challenges made the ground tremble. The big bulls pushed and pulled, their muscles straining. Dust rose like a thick, orange cloud around their strong legs. All the bulls expected a huge, powerful one to win the trials.

“Bravehorn will surely be the leader,” rumbled one bull. “He is the biggest!” But then came the final test: a lost calf in a twisty maze. Quickstep, the smallest bull, looked at the quiet stream. He saw the maze path clearly in the water’s reflection. Quickstep used his clever mind to find the calf and win! “Well, I never!” snorted another bull, surprised.

The Grateful Herd

Some of the bigger bulls snorted loudly, shaking their heads in disbelief. But as Quickstep found the lost calf, their big, tough faces started to soften. Soon, a rumble of cheers grew louder, "Hooray for Quickstep!" their deep voices boomed through the valley.

The clever Frog watched from his lily pad, giving a happy little croak of satisfaction. The other bulls stomped closer, carefully lifting Quickstep high onto their strong shoulders as their new leader. One enormous bull rumbled, "Thank you, little Frog! We realise that brains are just as important as muscles to truly shine!"

The Bulls Learn Leadership

Quickstep now led the Fighting Bulls, always using his clever head. One sunny morning, a giant, rough log blocked their favourite path. "This heavy thing won't budge!" grumbled a strong bull, pushing hard. Quickstep thought for a moment. "We must all push together, but also roll it from the side," he explained.

The clever Frog gave a little hop. "Perhaps a small stone could help us lift one end?" he croaked. The bulls tried it. Soon, the log rolled away easily! Everyone saw that Quickstep led with his smart ideas and kind heart, not just his powerful horns.
